The Good Life in Los Cabos, Mexico
My oldest, best friend Perrin and I hadn’t seen each other in months, so we decided to plan a spa weekend. Somehow we ended up in Los Cabos, Mexico (LOL), but that’s what happens when you find someone who travels on the same wavelength as you. You end up journeying so far, to better places than where you first imagined. We have taken many vacations together, but this one, by far, was the most captivating.
The Hotel - Viceroy Los Cabos
When Perrin sent me this hotel to check out for our trip, I was INSTANTLY sold. The Viceroy Los Cabos is OUT OF THIS WORLD! Picture this - a resort made solely of concrete, trees and water. In all of the places where you would expect to see grass, you see WATER. This resort is so meticulously designed, with striking blue and white features - it was stunning to see. And the constant sounds of water moving with the breeze was so peaceful. But the SERVICE. It was truly exceptional- exactly what you would expect when you invest in a 5 star vacation! Check out this amazing resort here, and let me know if you book your next stay in Cabo at The Viceroy!
For Dinner - Lumbre
We were wandering in downtown Cabo, and couldn’t find anywhere that looked interesting for dinner. I saw a random, oddly hidden building, where the valet line was down the street. I knew, whatever it was, it HAD to be good. Once we walked through the doors of Lumbre, we immediately saw one of the Real Housewives, the very rich and very ‘pretentious’ Heather Dubrow. Another sign that this place had to be good! Once seated, everything was fabulous, but I still cannot get my mind off of the tuna appetizer - it was one of the best tuna dishes I have ever had! We were lucky and got a table on the spot, but take my advice- make a reservation and enjoy an fantastic dinner at Lumbre!
The BEST Brunch - Flora Farms
When researching Cabo, I wanted to find a good brunch - somewhere with yummy food and boozy cocktails. Little did I know that I would stumble upon a WHOLE FARM that tourists and locals flock to for the best breakfast staples, like carnitas hash, pancakes, breakfast pizza, and more. Not to mention the massive BLOOD MARY BAR - I don’t even like Bloody Marys and I LOVED this. After brunch, take some time and wander around the farm - from fresh flowers to rare, local produce, there is so much to see ( and eat) at Flora Farms! (Final Tip - get a scoop of gelato on your way out, and thank me later!!)
Honorable Mention - Acre
Even though we did not have the best meal of the trip at Acre, I am throwing it in the mix because it is SUCH a popular place to visit in Los Cabos. Nestled in the middle of a forest, Acre is a full-service resort made primarily of guestrooms that are treehouses. If I go to Cabo again, I would actually like to stay in one of these rooms - it looks like a lux but very natural place to retreat! The food and drinks at Acre are also farm-to-table, like Flora Farms - the cocktails were really outstanding, and we loved our salads as well. Even though our entrees left a bit to be desired, I would still visit Acre again. It is one of those rare, special vacation experiences that you will remember long after your return to your normal life back home.
Overall, we LOVED this trip - Cabo is a vibrant city that also felt very safe. New businesses are constantly coming to the region, and I can’t wait to go back and update this post in the next few years with a new list of favorites!
